Who we are
SME Software Help is a UK software consultancy. For the purposes of UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), we are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can contact us about anything in this policy at hello@smesoftwarehelp.co.uk.
What we collect and why
Contact form submissions. When you use the contact form on our homepage, we collect your name, email address, and message. We use this information to respond to your enquiry and, where relevant, to discuss work with you. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, and taking steps you request before entering into a contract.
Email. If you email us directly, we hold your email address and the contents of your message for the same purposes.
We do not add you to any marketing list as a result of contacting us, and we do not sell or share your data for marketing purposes.
Analytics
We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand how this website is used. Umami is cookieless and does not collect or store personal identifiers: we see aggregated information such as page views, referring sites, and approximate location at country level, but we cannot identify individual visitors. Because no cookies or personal tracking are involved, the site does not show a cookie consent banner; there is nothing to consent to.
Who processes your data
This website is hosted by Netlify, which also processes contact form submissions on our behalf and stores them so we can read and respond to them. Umami Cloud processes the aggregated analytics described above. The site also loads an icon font from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers that includes your IP address; no other information is shared with Google by this site.
How long we keep your data
We keep enquiry details for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any business relationship that follows from it. If you ask us to delete your details, we will do so unless we have a legal reason to keep them.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to our use of it, and to receive a copy in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@smesoftwarehelp.co.uk and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal data, we will update this page and revise the date at the top. Significant changes will be noted clearly.
